We bring together a production-ready foundation, a knowledge corpus, AI agents that amplify the whole team, and optional professional services to build and operate it, and we're building E11 Cloud to run the whole platform end to end. The platform is proven and mature.
We're hiring a data engineer to build the reporting and analytics layer behind the dashboards we deliver to our clients. At its core this is a data role: you'll be excellent at SQL and query optimization, strong at data modeling, and good at turning raw data into clean, well-structured views that drive reporting, with row-level security so each client sees only their own data. You'll work across Postgres and BigQuery and own the data structures and reporting APIs the dashboards run on.
Reporting work on its own won't fill the week, so the role is also backend-heavy. You'll build and maintain backend services in our NestJS stack alongside the data work, so we're after a strong engineer who leads with data rather than a pure analyst. We lean on AI across our engineering, so we want someone who uses it well to move quickly across data and code.
Qualifications
- Exceptional SQL, including query optimization and performance tuning on large datasets.
- Strong data modeling and data structuring, with good instincts for clean, query-friendly schemas.
- Experience building views and materialized views for reporting.
- Experience with row-level security, or a similar approach to keeping each client's data isolated.
- Hands-on with both a relational database (Postgres) and a warehouse (BigQuery).
- Solid backend engineering in TypeScript, ideally NestJS, including shared SDK packages.
- Comfortable building and maintaining ETL or data pipelines.
- Good testing habits and disciplined releases (conventional commits, semver, scoped packages).
- Comfortable moving between multiple codebases and client projects while meeting delivery timelines.
- You use AI tools well to work quickly across data and code.
Responsibilities
- Build the data and reporting layer behind the dashboards we deliver to clients.
- Write and optimize complex SQL, tuning queries for performance as data grows.
- Design and structure data for reporting, including views and materialized views.
- Set up row-level security so each client sees only their own data.
- Develop strategy to support migration and sync from legacy databases across clouds (e.g. from SQL Server in Azure to Postgres in GCP)
- Work across Postgres and BigQuery, choosing the right store for each job.
- Build and maintain ETL or data pipelines that feed the reporting layer.
- Build and maintain backend services and shared SDK packages in NestJS alongside the data work.
- Own production health for what you ship: logging, tracing, debugging, performance, and on-call.
- Write tests and follow release and versioning discipline (conventional commits, semver, scoped packages).
- Move cleanly between multiple codebases and client projects while keeping delivery on track.
- Manage DB reliability (e.g. read-replicas)
- Create and implement strategy for data across environments - e.g. de-identification of production data for stage per NIST standards
